About Our Organization

See the Staff Page

The Rhode Island Silent Camp, Incorporated, is a non-profit organization that was started in July 2002. The vision of its founders was to create an organization that would preserve, enhance, and promote the awareness of deaf culture. Through various educational activities and outreach programs, their goal has been accomplished. Today, we are an Educational Outreach Program designed for the introduction, immersion, and education of the hearing community regarding the world of the Deaf, its language, and its culture.

Our organizational objectives are:
  • To encourage ASL students to continue their Deaf Studies with an interpreter's certificate and/or license as an attainable goal
  • To educate the hearing community in the traditions, culture, and heritage of the Deaf Community
  • To provide support and services to the Deaf Community
